Most people in Stockholm rely on the well-developed public transport system to get around the city in their day-to-day life. The Stockholm metro (Tunnelbana) is a particularly common choice for daily commuters, and closer to the outskirts of the city you’ll find the commuter trains into the city center are the go-to option. There are also buses, trams, and even boats that let you quickly travel around the city, all using the same single digital ticket system.
If you want a more active option, then cycling is also a common way to get around Stockholm – particularly during the warmer seasons of the year. Since the city has invested relatively heavily in infrastructure to support cyclists by creating dedicated bike lanes and cycling tracks along the most used roads in and out of the city center. Even if you choose to live in the Stockholm suburbs, biking to work or campus can still be a very viable option.
