Cleaning responsibilities in coliving

How do cleaning responsibilities work in coliving?

Different coliving providers generally have different approaches to how cleaning is handled within the community. In the case of flat-sharing or more cooperative commune-style coliving, it is common to see cleaning being a shared responsibility for the members. While it is quite efficient and does not result in any additional costs for cleaning, it does require that everyone contributes equally and coordinates between themselves. Unfortunately, this tends to lead to disagreements and friction between members – especially as the community increases in size beyond just a few individuals.

The structure in larger communities operated by professional coliving companies like Allihoop is usually more defined, in order to make the day-to-day easier to manage for the members. While the private studios still primarily need to be managed by the members, the shared spaces are regularly cleaned by our Spotless Crew. This way our members can focus on taking advantage of the social opportunities and benefits that the space brings, rather than being occupied by cleaning schedules and organising chores.
